Kansas radio station KCOR have a blues show syndicated to a number of stations globally. Terry Knott, DJ for the show, says he “loves it” and “can hear a Kinks feel in the music.”

Other blues shows have been airing the track. However, a rock song from the Project’s last album, ‘Looking For Someone To Blame’, has also been gaining momentum on the radio front.

In the last two weeks “Rock The Flock” has suddenly been making the playlists on quite a number of rock stations. Lynn White DJ on SCB Global said, “I really like this.”

Marcy Playground are excited to announce the September 28 release of their forthcoming album Indaba Remixes from Wonderland by Capitol/EMI.

Indaba Remixes from Wonderland is a new CD and digital collection of remixes from the band’s 2009 critically-acclaimed album “Leaving Wonderland In a Fit of Rage.”

For the release, the band partnered last fall with the top online destination for music creation, Indaba Music, to offer fans the opportunity to put their own stamp on Marcy Playground’s songs by remixing them. The band then selected their favorite mixes, from hundreds submitted, for inclusion on this special release.

Marcy Playground frontman John Wozniak comments: “I wanted to make this record to show people what the online music community is capable of. I believe the talent reflected in these tracks speaks for itself. This community is thriving. It’s thriving because musicians feed on inspiration they get from other musicians. Music is not meant to be a solitary endeavour. It’s something we like to do with other people. But maybe you live in a remote part of the world, or have problems with mobility because you’re physically disabled, or have severe social anxiety, or simply can’t find other musicians in your locale who share your musical interests. Indaba side-steps these limitations, giving musicians all over the world a way to get together and create anyway, which is revolutionary. ”

Indaba Remixes from Wonderland marks the first time that an entire album has been produced exclusively using crowdsourced remixes from IndabaMusic.com’s worldwide community in which the winners will receive royalties from album sales. The mixes were judged by the band, with the prize being the opportunity to have the winning entries included on the album.

“Marcy Playground was very forward-thinking in the planning for Indaba Remixes from Wonderland. Their faith in the independent music community’s ability to deliver was well founded, as evidenced by the overwhelming response,” said Mantis Evar, Co-founder and EVP, Artists & Community of IndabaMusic.com.

Wozniak continues: “Before the contest started, most of us expected to see between 50 and 100 remix submissions, which is still a lot of music. But we underestimated. By the end, members of the community had submitted some 337 individual remixes, amounting to over 20 consecutive hours of music.

Not only were we overwhelmed by the response, we were impressed by the multitude of musical directions and interpretations in different musical genres. It took a lot of time to judge the winners because every single submission deserved consideration, and multiple listens. I kept notebooks filled with observations in order to keep track of what I liked and what I didn’t.

Eventually I whittled those 330 down to about 60 of the best remixes, and then took that list to the band. The guys helped trim those 60 down to 30. But then we had to get those 30 down to 13, and that was painful. Those 30 finalists were all outstanding. At the end of the day, everybody put so much love into their remixes, I’m just thankful to have had the opportunity to experience them all.”

“Good Old War”’s harmonies hit the heart the set the mood for things to come.

He delivers a deeper satisfaction that’s hard to explain.  Deep thinking brooding to the corners of your lips turning up into a smile.

Here we go now.

The upbeat mood that Koonyum Sun delivered nonstop on all cylinders. Bigger smile into the chant leads too smooth sailing in old familiar waters with a crew of new old friends. It’s really quite amazing hearing how much different a familiar song can sound with a band behind Xavier.

It’s not worse in any way.  I’m still not sure if it’s better than how he did them; there is a whole different energy to them that you can hear and feel.  Taking a dive headfirst, feels amazing to enter; the body is refreshed.  New energy crashing into and growing in me… Holy Yudeki!!

When they get going on their new stuff that they worked on together and recorded for the new CD, you can feel it.  Song after song the vibes grow and pick you up in the tiny room we’re in and carry you to places forgotten and unknown.

Resting, slowing down, thinking, thanking, living, knowing, cherish the spirit of the world. A small focus to get thoughts together.  Preparation for the end.  We all know that it’s coming to an end, now isn’t the time though. Not even fading, the energy is pouring, oldies but goodies. So much jumping and energy before an ~3 minute respite to come back solo.

Not losing any of the energy, just bringing it down to a different? manageable? level.  It’s good.  He reminds us what we had. I still haven’t forgotten.

This show is by far better than any other show I’ve seen with Xavier.  The only thing that can top this is when Izintaba tour on a CD that they’ve totally co-written, and not just one that Rudd has written and then worked with Tio and Andile on.

Xavier Rudd has been playing with Tio Moloantoa on Bass, and Andile Nqubezelo on drums in their new band Izintaba, for about two years.

Xavier, Tio, and Andile formed a bond in the summer of 2008 at Austria’s Nuke festival, and their relationship—like their musical tastes—reflects a passion for unifying culture, sound, and understanding.

The tour is to highlight the bands first album, Koonyum Sun, which reaches back and revitalizes the up-beat, hip-swaying sound Xavier was known for before 2008′s heavier edged album Dark Shades of Blue.

Xavier is known for his intricate stage set up, where he is surrounded, literally, by instruments including didgeridoos, steel guitars, stomp boxes and much more. The three of these talented musicians on stage syncing minds with music is a show you do not want to miss

Shadow Thieves perform a fusion of rock, indie, progressive rock, roots, funk and atmospheric music on the first wave of the socialistic digital age.

The band consists of four key members; Matt Buckley, Jack Letizia, Joey Green and Cass Wilson. The project began as ‘ENACIO’ in early 2006 after performing with other local Gold Coast bands. The word soon spread, and national agency ‘The Pushworth Group’ began to book the band shows including supports with Spiderbait, The Angels (Angel City), Shihad, You Am I, Grinspoon and more. The band was later discovered by Blue Tongue Management, and was included in the 2009 Big Day Out, Loud Fest and Caxton Street Festivals.

Amidst 2009, the band recorded two tracks ( Promise  and  Mystery ) at Loose Stones Studios with Gold Coast producer, Matt Bartlem. The tracks were mixed by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus). These recording sessions helped develop the bands early ideas into crafted recordings, offering a new direction and a new-found beginning for the band.

This new inspiration brought about some serious changes. The band became  Shadow Thieves  and dissected every aspect of their music from an artistic point of view, further developing their new ‘desired’ sound. The song structure became paramount and in early 2010 the band laid down four new tracks at Loose Stones Studios, this time with producer Shane Graham of Rock Group ‘Fatis Valour’. These four tracks completed the bands long awaited debut release, ‘Space Between’ a six track journey.

Recent performances include one on the Beach at Surfers Paradise (Launch It! Festival) with You Am I and Bertie Blackman, and a performance for Nova FM s 5th Birthday in Brisbane with Bluejuice, Operator Please & Amy Meredith. Dashboard Mary  gets right into the groove with beautiful acoustic guitar work and vocals by the amazing pixie-esque voice of Danielle and the spot on lead vocals of Kristen.  Drag Me  gets a little more serious, but that s the nature of the Pope Jane stars if you ve followed their career as I have.  Undone  then completely sucks you in for the rest of the Backstreet Bordello ride. I don t know if I d call it an End-Times-Diner as I ve always thought of these women like a fine wine, but End-Times-High-End-Restaurant doesn t exactly flow, now does it?

Morningside Lane  is another example of the brilliant writing skills and vocal extravaganzas of this talented pair.  Miraculous  has that Led Zeppelin  Battle of Evermore  feel to it, but with a whole new twist on current reality. The cutting edge wit, both sarcastic and playful, really kept me into what s going on. And then  Rise Up  returns us to the serious mode with its theme of justice which doesn t lack for clarity, and again, a surprising contribution from Kristen. This is truly Kristen’s debut as I’ve not heard this much original material by this amazing woman. And again, the vocals are amazing and extremely well mixed, no doubt, an attribute of the anal retentive nature (and rightly so) of Danielle. There’s got to be some Virgo in there somewhere in addition to her Pisces.

The darkly themed  Copper Street  stays with you. I had to listen to the song a few times to see if I was really getting the message, and again, the lyrics are very straight forward regarding death, the devil, and a hard life.  Anybody  follows the dark theme but speaks more to our loneliness as individuals, yet remains consistent with the rhythms and tempos of the entire work.  Blind  is utterly delectable for you bluesy and blue grass lovin  peeps! Not my favorite genre, but then it s not about me, although the rest of the album certainly resonates and strikes a chord and an accord with every fiber of my spiritual being.

Back to the playful,  Go Away  sent me into joyous laughter and a slight reminiscence of a song I couldn t get enough of (and still can t),  Rumor  on an earlier work of Danielle s. The End Times Diner ends with probably the only cover song I ve ever heard Danielle do, one of the most beautiful versions of Leonard Cohen s  Halleluiah.  It s such a hopeful song (actually never heard a better version since Jeff Buckley), and you will tear up by the end of it. Kristen and Danielle will definitely make you stop and ponder life. And if you believe in the latter days, this work will give you hope that there is still hope for humanity.

The simplistic nature of the entire album is refreshing as every single track you hear and every single overdub on it is always pleasing to the ear. Intelligently written and marvelously mixed. If you re looking for a change from all the multi-layered tracks and heaviness out there (not that that stuff isn t good too), this is my pick for 2010.

Xavier, Tio and Andile formed a bond in the summer of 2008 at Austria’s Nuke festival.  Their relationship—like their musical tastes—reflects a passion for unifying culture, sound and understanding. Moving away from the heavier-edged sound pursued on 2008’s Dark Shades of Blue, Xavier has shifted to an up-beat, hip-swaying sound, now backed by the tour de force of Tio and Andile under the new group “Xavier Rudd and Izintaba.”

Charleston City Paper experienced a preview of the new lineup this past summer, raving “With a powerful presence center stage, bassist Tio Molontoa cranked out some funky bass with a background of the aboriginal flag, while drummer Andile Nqubezelo, stage right, demolished the drums…From beginning to end Rudd’s performance had fans in a frenzy bobbing around to a fusion of Aboriginal Funk.”

Rudd is known for his extraordinary stage show that finds him performing guitar, didgeridoo and various percussion parts simultaneously—using a unique set-up that literally surrounds him with various instruments, singing from behind a stand holding three didgeridoos of different keys.  He has led sold-out tours in Europe, Canada, Australia and the US, both headlining and supporting the likes of the Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. In Australia, he has collected a string of gold and platinum sales awards for his albums and DVDs.

Qness first entered the musical scene as an R ‘n’ B singer in a boy band at school, before he moved on to do hip hop in upper grade with some high school friends, where he was also the producer for the band, until he finally got catapulted into dance music when he first heard the Oskido’s Church Grooves First Commandment.

Messages From The Stars is such a favorite stitch in time for Martin ‘Atjazz’ that he could not help but contact the man behind this adorable song to see if any further versions could be reworked in order to keep the stars burning and the answer was a big YES!. Richard started digging through his tapes and found the vocal files, he sent them over and after a number of remixing sessions we are now proud to bring you ‘Messages From The Stars (Atjazz Remixes)’ and we hope you love them as much as we do.
