Bobble Head, one of pop music’s fastest rising new acts, has taken the unusual step of pulling his number-one selling single “Robodic” from iTunes and AmazonMP3 and telling fans that they can download his new EP, Thinking Out Loud for free.
In a break from industry tradition the American pop singer, famous for “Robodic” which topped the AmazonMP3 sales chart after appearing on MTV’s Jersey Shore in August, has told fans, “download it for free!”
This isn’t the first time that an artist has opted to charge nothing for an album, but the move is significant because Thinking Out Loud includes the radio-hit “Robodic” as well as other songs currently featured on MTV.
Free albums also drive demand for live tours, which translate to dollar signs for the artists behind them.
A great example of this is Prince, who in July gave away his album 3121 for free in the UK through the Daily Mail.
He subsequently announced 21 tour dates in London, all of which sold out.
Bobble Head got discovered by actor Eric West who signed him to an exclusive management deal with the superstars management company Eric West Management Group.
