Montreal-via-Victoria indie folk minstrel and violin-maker Galen Hartley recently decided to put his entire new album, Good Dreams, up for free download on Bandcamp, here: http://galenhartley.bandcamp.com
“Contrary to what its title might suggest, Good Dreams features anything but meditative, starry-eyed ditties. Musically, Hartley’s solo project is akin to Conor Oberst (especially on Prince and Vice President) or Sufjan Stevens repertoire (Have Mercy on the Old Gang comes to mind), but his lyrics, half earnest poetry and half tongue-in-cheek witticisms, really stand out, adding value to an already satisfying work of art.”
“Any savvy business person knows the true secret to success is just giving away the product for free”, comments Hartley. “That, combined with prayers and curses, is essentially enough to take anyone up the ladder to the stars. That’s just how capitalism works…. But really it just makes me happier to think that people are listening to my music, and since I’m not currently touring right now, I thought this would be the best way to make that happen.”

Montreal-based alternative band GLO announces the release of their new EP, titled “No One Hears Me”. The 5-track album was recorded in Montreal and is set for release on April 20.
Written by GLO and produced by platinum-certified record producer John Nathaniel , “No One Hears Me” is a strong blend of unyielding melodic prowess with catchy, fast-paced anthems, as well as beautiful flowing ballads that redefine the modern rock genre. It is a libidinously sweaty commingling of three extraordinarily talented musicians. With a judging panel that included The Cure, Tori Amos, Massive Attack, Keane, and Ozzy, and with over 16,000 entries, GLO’s new song “Into My Arms” was selected as a semi-finalist in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition (ISC).
Comprised of Eddie Mazzola (guitarist / keyboardist & bassist), Patrick Rowan (drummer) and Riccardo “Rick” Cordi (vocalist / rhythm guitars), GLO has had much success in Canada with their previous album called ” On The Outside”, released in 2010. The lead single off that album – “Move Along” took over the rock charts for four solid months an accomplishment by any standards, let alone one for a completely autonomous band. Every recording on their previous CD including the song “Move Along” was tracked, produced and engineered in Mazzola’s own studio, but for the final mix the group turned to veteran Los Angeles producer/engineer Paul Lani (Red Hot Chili Peppers & Megadeth).
